Croom Concrete were contracted by BAM Construction for the supply of 3 no. Precast Support Beams. The beams, which measure from 6.5 to 9 meters in length and weigh in excess of 21 metric tonnes, will support inlet water pipes for the plant, which is part of the Dublin Waste-to-Energy Project.

The project is a partnership  between Dublin City Council and Covanta, a world leader in providing sustainable waste and energy solutions, to provide a thermal treatment plant to treat municipal waste that cannot be reused or recycled. Located in Poolbeg, in Dublin Port, the plant will generate energy from up to 600,000 tonnes of waste per year that would otherwise go to landfill and will generate enough electricity for up to 80,000 homes annually, as well as district heating for up to a further 50,000 homes. The US company Covanta is the world’s largest operator of waste-to-energy facilities.

Croom has also been selected by BAM for the supply of boot beams, spine beams, and precast slabs for a jeti that will also be located on the site.
